Arriyadh, Saudi Arabia 

Arriyadh Development Authority launched a competition for the design of a new neighbourhood in Riyadh. Our entry was awarded with the 2nd price. The design concept is based on the principles of the traditional Saudi City. An inhabited “wall” with many gates encloses and defines the neighbourhood. Behind the wall the neighbourhood park accomodates the main public uses, such as the Friday mosques, where the wall opens up and forms urban gates. From these gates, diagonal footpaths cut through the grid of the neighbourhood and lead to local suares, where the daily mosques and nurseries are located.
